When Eddy Cue (who is decidedly not Ed McMahon), Apple's VP of iTunes, called the lucky winner of a $10,000 iTunes gift card for downloading the 10 billionth iOS app, he was apparently summarily dismissed with a "Thank you very much, I'm not interested," and then a hang-up.
Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, U.K., thought Cue's call was a prank. When her daughters -- who had themselves downloaded the record-breaking app, Paper Glider -- informed Davis that the call was real, she realized she'd made a whoopsie.
"The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a genuine call," Davis told Cult of Mac. "The girls were getting quite tense. They never would have forgiven me. They would have held it against me for all 
Calling Apple didn't help, but luckily an associate of Cue's rang her back and tried again to deliver congratulations. This time it was accepted.
Davis says the family will use the $10,000 iTunes gift card to download more iTunes apps (maybe some of our favorites), though she admits that her daughters are the only ones in the Davis household with iPod Touches -- she and her husband are still stuck on the Nano.
Too bad you can't buy Apple gadgets via iTunes.
