When it comes to text in body art, cursive tattoos are certainly one of the most popular. This is due mainly to the fact that cursive writing has an elegant, flowing appearance. It does not hurt, of course, that you can use this style to create fine letters and words that can easily be fit into discreet areas of the body, or make otherwise large texts smaller, and thus opening up the areas of placement.

There are a few different styles of writing that you can use for your cursive tattoos. The D?Nealian style is one of the most common. Many people were taught this manner of writing very early, as it is one of the most simple forms of cursive. Therefore, when creating text tattoos, this is generally the first design used. The Zaner-Bloser style, though, is usually utilized for cursive tattoos, as it has a more flowing, graceful appearance. For something a bit different, you could use either Palmer cursive, or a tearless handwriting. The Palmer style has a more billowy appearance than the others, while the tearless manner is more staunch, and is akin to a Gothic-type script.

Some cursive tattoos feature the written script by itself. Although most people use whole words, or long quotes, sayings, poems, or lyrics, some people use single letters. This is usually only done for initials of people or places; however, they may also be used for religious or Latin abbreviations, on tombstones, or alongside Roman numerals. Whole words are rarely done in a simple cursive script, and generally bear a more lacy, or even watery appearance. Long texts, on the other hand frequently play down the style of the text, and often feature the bold, flowing designs on the first letter of the body, or the first letter of every line.

You may occasionally see cursive tattoos that are transformed into a variety of images. One interesting example of this is to elongate the writing to create a body and tail to go with the head of a dragon or snake. The words can be twisted into the shape of hearts, or ? for a longer body of text ? a flower can be created: the first line being the stem, with small lines of words inverted into the center of the flower.

Cursive tattoos ? whether placed by themselves, alongside a variety of symbols, or transformed into something unique ? are beautiful, and can add a touch of class to any piece of body art.

For folks fed up with paying too much for cable, a la carte television - the idea of paying only for the channels you watch - is the impossible dream, but Roku's taken the first step towards attaining it with WealthTV's 24-hour linear feed.

For $2.99 per month, Roku users can now watch WealthTV as if it were on cable, with a set schedule of shows streaming around the clock. This is the first U.S. cable channel to offer its content to Roku this way, though it'll also allow subscribers to watch shows on demand.

To be sure, this would be a bigger deal if WealthTV was a popular channel. Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Cox Cable don't even offer it in their line-ups. But it's precisely because of WealthTV's insignificance that this news has big ramifications for the future of TV.

While a la carte TV may sound great for consumers, it's disastrous for cable providers and television studios, who would no longer be guaranteed revenue by forcing customers into extravagant bundles. While a popular channel like ESPN would probably do fine with a la carte - I'm sure a lot of people would give up cable entirely if they could subscribe only to ESPN for a quarter of the price - obscure channels would have trouble selling themselves directly to consumers. A lot of them would disappear.

For WealthTV, the potential benefits of pioneering linear Web TV on Roku outweigh the risks of supporting a la carte television. This is the kind of channel that could get forced out if a significant number of big-name channels went a la carte, but this move gives WealthTV greater visibility (I'd like to know how many of you heard of it before today) with the possibility of more monthly revenue. Considering that most channels collect pennies per month for each cable subscriber, WealthTV has a lot to gain at $3 per month.

A la carte TV could become a reality of more channels follow WealthTV's lead. We'll see.

Only Microsoft knows how the next version of its Windows operating system will look and what it will be called, but big changes could be ahead for the OS observers refer to as "Windows 8."

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Microsoft announced that Windows 8 will support system-on-a-chip architectures using ARM processors. Unlike the x86 architecture that today's Windows laptops and desktops work with, ARM-based chips tend to run such low-power devices as tablets and smartphones.

In his CES keynote speech, Microsoft CEO Steve Ball�mer said, "This announcement is really all about enabling a new class of hardware, and new silicon partners for Windows, to bring the widest possible range of form factors to the market."

In other words, Windows won't be just for laptops and desktops anymore.

Actual Facts

Microsoft's ARM announcement represents the firm's only officially released factual detail about Windows 8. Consistent with it, the company named Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments as silicon partners, so Windows devices built upon their three low-power platforms are likely.

At an architectural summit in London last year, Microsoft en��couraged the idea of virtualizing Windows more heavily, possibly storing apps, data, Windows settings, and parts of the OS itself in the cloud.

Rumors

No rumor about Windows 8 is more precise than a series of leaked slides that supposedly provide a blueprint for Microsoft's next OS. The slides alone don't indicate final features of Windows 8, but they do show where Microsoft is headed, especially since other reports have corroborated them.

One slide, for example, talks about an OS that follows users wherever they go; instead of being tethered to hardware, users may roam between desktops, laptops, and tablets in whatever way is most convenient.

Another slide speaks of a reset button that preserves apps and settings while wiping out viruses and other hindrances. Some industry watchers suggest that storing apps and data in the cloud could make this feature possible.

As for Microsoft's goal of "instant on" computing, blogger Manan Kakkar spotted a Microsoft patent for using a hypervisor-another virtualization method-to split the operating system into a general-purpose OS and a number of appliancelike applications, such as for TVs and tablets. Those uses, Kakkar says, could switch on instantly even if the core OS took 30 seconds to start up.

How will Microsoft achieve these lightweight versions of its operating system? A ru��mor circulated by Paul Thurrott posits that Windows 8 will introduce a tile-based interface called "Mosh" to serve as an alternative UI for tablets and other low-power touchscreen devices.

We've also heard rumblings about a new application de��velopment framework code-named "Jupiter," whose goal is to help developers create dynamic, visually appealing, and immersive applications for a forthcoming Windows app store. It may also be an attempt by Microsoft to enable developers to create apps that work on both traditional x86-based CPUs and ARM-based processors without extensive recompiling and reprogramming.

Speculation

If you doubt whether Windows 8 will be a profoundly different operating system from its predecessors, consider this breathless bit of hype that briefly appeared on a Microsoft developer's blog in 2009:

"The minimum that folks can take for granted is that the next version will be something completely different from what folks usually expect of Windows...The themes that have been floated truly reflect what people have been looking [for] for years and it will change the way people think about PCs and the way they use them. It is the future of PCs."

Microsoft quickly removed the blog, as if to erase the evidence. So is the company really trying to shake things up with Windows 8?

The Big Picture

Microsoft clearly wants to create an operating system that scales between devices. ARM support provides the foundation, and cloud services could be a major building block. The challenge for Microsoft will be to leave the core Windows experience and legacy compatibility intact while also pursuing its lofty ambitions.

A final rumor: Reportedly, Microsoft is targeting a 2012 release for Windows 8. Think the company can get everything figured out by then?

Ted Kennedy, the man upon whose shoulders was foisted the Kennedy family for better or worse.� In spite of all his flaws he was rock solid.� The fact that he faced his demons head on was remarkable.

He could have easily folded up his tent and gone away yet he withstood the barrage of blows after experiencing the deaths of his three older brothers.

While a young boy he lost his brother Joe to WW I I, then as we all know that ideological assassins killed his brother John and then Robert.� He also lost his sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver just a few weeks ago.

When he drove his car off of Dike's Bridge and the resulting accident took the life of Mary Jo Kopechne, one would think that such a regrettable action would have certainly doomed this man, leaving him to broken to carry the unimaginable tragic burdens still to come at him and his family.

In spite of his personal frailties and surviving a plane crash, he still managed 47 years of untiring and unwavering service to his country.� He worked very hard for the less fortunate and he was well respected by his opposition.

George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States, released a statement early Wednesday morning on the death of Senator Edward Kennedy.

"While we didn?t see eye-to-eye on many political issues through the years, I always respected his steadfast public service - so much so, in fact, that I invited him to my library in 2003 to receive the Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service," President Bush said. "Ted Kennedy was a seminal figure in the United States Senate - a leader who answered the call to duty for some 47 years, and whose death closes a remarkable chapter in that body?s history."

Kennedy was the first American to receive the Bush Award. In November 2003, the Massachusetts Democrat received the honor from the former president at the Texas A&M-based library.

"We are not here to celebrate a partisan ideology," Mr. Bush said that evening, "but rather, the steadfast public service of a seminal figure in the U.S. Senate, and by extension, his remarkable family."

The widow of another president, Ronald Reagan, was one of the first to speak out from the Republican Party.

?Given our political differences, people are sometimes surprised by how close Ronnie and I have been to the Kennedy family,? Nancy Reagan said in a statement from Los Angeles.

?But Ronnie and Ted could always find common ground, and they had great respect for one another. In recent years, Ted and I found our common ground in stem cell research, and I considered him an ally and a dear friend. I will miss him.?

I too will miss Ted Kennedy, if you look at any piece of legislation over the past 50 years and if it had anything to do with the advancement of civil rights, education, equal pay, health or economic issues for the everyday man and woman it will also have his name attached to it.

Thanks for all that you have contributed to this country not only in mind but in blood too.� "RIP" Ted.
